We pride ourselves on good communication with parents and whilst the majority of communication with parents is done verbally we complete a daily feedback sheet to provide parents with information about how their child has slept and eaten that day along with any nappy changes and/or toilet training. Further to this, all children at the nursery have a learning journal as well where we capture all that you child is achieving and learning. We encourage toilet training in the toddlers department and will work very much with you and your child. We will discuss what works best for your child and will only start toilet training when they are ready. The children love the sticker chart we provide and find this very rewarding.
Happy Kids welcomes children from approximately 3 – 4 years old. At the end of your child’s Pre-school year we hold a graduation ceremony/concert. This is a lovely end to the pre-school year before there transition to school.
Children in Pre School enjoy a variety of activities including free play, circle time, role-play, music and movement, sand and water, arts & crafts and outings. Polish , French and Music lesson are also offered to our Pre-School Children. Play underpins the delivery of the “Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS)” and we aim to provide all children with a broad and balanced range of experiences in order that they develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and morally. Staff therefore provide a balance of planned and unplanned opportunities (indoors and outdoors) that will allow the children to encounter positive learning across all the areas of Learning and Development. Pre school children have access to a wide range of activities and resources to expand their learning including ICT . They go on outings outside the nursery environment including trips to local parks and train station to develop their curiosity and sense of adventure within their local environment.
Parents of the Pre School children are always welcome to speak to our staff. We pride ourselves on good communication with parents. We provide a daily sheet so parents know what your child has got up to that day as well as provide information about the weekly topics so parents are able to continue their child’s learning at home. Further to this, all children at the nursery have a learning journal as well where we capture all that you child is achieving and learning. These are especially important in Pre School to discuss your child’s up and coming transition to Primary School. It is our policy is to have a strong link with the primary school, which your child will be attending to ensure that the transition from nursery to school is a smooth one.
Our Baby Unit welcomes children from 9 months up to approx. 18 months and offers a warm friendly environment for them to make the transition from home to nursery care. The Baby Unit is split into two groups. Your child will join either of the groups that is appropriate to your child’s developmental needs. We will always cater for your babies individual needs and keep the routine as similar to that at home.
Activities are planned to ensure experiences reflect your baby’s interests, as set out in the “Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS)”, celebrating the skill and competence of babies and young children and highlighting the relationship between growth, learning, development and the environment in which they are being cared for. Typical activities may include; messy play, soft play, building blocks, creative artwork & outdoor fun!
There is a great deal of important information to pass to parents of children in the Baby Unit and we do this through a daily feedback which records the meals, nappy changes, drinks and sleep patterns of each child, and by talking to the parents when they collect the children. We send home children’s art work and have a wide range of photos displayed to show parents what their children get up to when they are not around.
The Toddler Unit welcomes children from approximately 18 months – 3 years old. It is split into three groups to accommodate the different stages of toddlerhood.
The main aim of Toddlers is that the children continue to learn through play. The children have the opportunity to engage in lots of activities throughout the day. This will ensure that the children’s interests and learning are extended and developed as set out in the “Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS)”. Our weekly planning is child led through the child’s own interests and according to their developmental needs. Parents are welcome to contribute to the planning gif they wish. The toddlers are introduced to circle time and your child will enjoy a variety of activities including, role-play, music and movement, sand and water, outdoor play and art & craft activities. All of our toddler rooms have an area where children can get involved in messy play, painting etc. These areas are set daily for the children to explore. We also offer polish and Music lessons to our Toddlers
The Nursery is closed on all Bank Holidays and for one week at Christmas and one week at Easter. You will not be charged for these times but if you take holidays or your child is absent for any reason then we cannot give a refund.
